We started framing the storage room at the north end of the garage early in the spring. |
We had good help to pour the cement for the garage/shop floor. |
Ted and Ken Wilson helped for four weekends with the concert. Floyd Wilson also helped for a weekend. |
Kodi and Kris were the lead gravel and cement mixers. |
We poured the buildings slab floor in four 24' x 12' sections. |
The concrete was 4 to 6 inches deep. |
Kodi and Kris worked on the fire pit when were not pouring cement. |
The Wilson’s, Ken, Ted, and Floyd were a great help. |
Chuck ran the tractor to dump the cement. |
Kris and Kodi had extra duties. They always had lunch ready for the crew. |
We even had help from the Ken Wilson’s grandchild. Brad Wilson’s son Stetson jumped right in. |
Chuck was the expert with the trowels. |
We used the tractor to raise the walls. |
The walls were built in sections and were set on the anchor bolts imbedded in the concrete of the cinder block. |
The sheathing or sub-siding was7/16” wafer board. |
After the sheathing, the building was ready for the trusses. |
Perry's truss design was stress tested by a Boise truss company who then custom built the trusses. |
A jig to raise the trusses by the tractor was designed by Chuck. |
The trusses were raised in four hours with the Wilson crew back to help. |
Ted, Ken, and Perry mounted the trusses while Kodi, Kris, and Chuck loaded they on the tractor jig. |
Ted and Ken were worked the top while Perry provided materials needed and set the bottoms. |
The sheathing and felt paper job was an experience. The roof pitch had a 60% bottom pitch and 30% pitch at the top. |
Steps of 2 x 4's were necessary to stay on the building. |
After the sheathing, a 30lb felt paper was applied. |
Then the building was house rapped. |
Kodi and Kris finished the fire pit. |
They really did a nice job. The only thing Perry did was set the cinder block and wires. The girls did the finish work. |
Rest time was good time. Even the dogs enjoyed the breaks. |
Break time was to admire the day’s work and rest the backs. |
The garage ends were framed. |
Then they were house rapped. |
The 24 x 60 building make far a good-sized shop 24' x 22 and a garage area of 24' x 26'. The upstairs area was 14 x 48. |
The garage doors and enterence doors were installed. The building was ready for the winter. The siding and metal roofing was schedule for spring. |
